Calvi is arguably Corsica's most beautiful town, with its Genoese citadel, birthplace of Christopher Columbus, perched on the southern tip of a crescent-shaped bay backed with snowcapped mountains. The cobbled streets of the lower old town are lined with boutiques and delis, while the waterfront marina offers an enticing choice of restaurants and bars. There are plenty of activities available, including sailing, watersports, hiking, horseriding and diving. Further afield there is golf, climbing and parasailing. There are plenty of opportunities for daytrips by boat, train or car, such as a boat trip to the UNESCO heritage site of Scandola and the island's capital Ajaccio. |
