Ideally situated in the heart of the Lake District Birch Cottage is a traditional 200 year old stone cottage set on three floors with views to Wansfell. It has a quiet location on the edge of the small friendly town of Ambleside, at the head of Lake Windermere and you can hear the famous waterfall of Skelwith Force as you sit in the cottage garden [if the birds are not singing too loudly!]
The cottage was originally built for bobbin workers and latterly was owned by the famous climber Bill Birkett [you'll find a selection of his books to browse through in the cottage]. No wonder there are many fabulous walks right from the doorstep. Leave your car right outside the cottage [on a private entry, not a main road] and set off for the hills, wander 4 minutes down to the bustling little town or catch a bus or ferry to many amazing sites.

Ground Floor:
Open plan LOUNGE with twin sofas, colour TV with video, radio/cassette player, selection of games, books and extensive information folder. Curl up in front of a living flame gas fire -which looks real without the mess and delay of a coal fire.
KITCHEN/DINER has full size gas cooker as well as a microwave, refrigerator, iron, kettle, toaster and is well equipped with all utensils.
First Floor:
Cosy TWIN BEDROOM has 2 2"6 pine beds and a lovely view to Wansfell.
Spacious BATHROOM with cast iron bath and a separate electric walk-in power shower, also a shaver point.
Top Floor:
Has been made into one large DOUBLE BEDROOM where there is an extra seating area to enjoy that view or read a book quietly if others are watching TV downstairs. The bed is again solid pine with a luxury orthopaedic mattress [ie firm but not too hard!].
